If you’ve been following The Snowstack’s recent posts you’ll know that this window has been presenting for the last week. A strong polar node (a.k.a. long wave trough) is moving through our longitude with a delayed arrival of ~10th June.

After peaking in southwest WA next weekend, long-range models point in reasonable agreement to this node has linkages to stratosphere, SAM and the MJO.

The stratospheric linkage to the tropospheric patterns as projected by the American model (GFS) for the 12th of June. The potential system can be seen via the yellow perforated box to the bottom-right of the plot. Source: Stratobserve.com
